Special damages are a form of damages that can be determined with mathematical certainty. They are similar to, but not exactly the same as liquidated damages. Some examples of special damages that are commonly awarded in a lawsuit are:

- Lost wages
- Value of replacement property
- Medical bills
- Amounts payable under a lease
- A debt including interest
